Friends Are an Investment

One of your friends is learning to play the tuba.  In an amateur polka band.  A very amateur polka band.

While going to one of her performances might be the last thing you’re interested in doing, it’s important to her, and sometimes being friends means doing awful, boring or awkward things just to show we’re there (many bridesmaids dresses are a good example of this).

Just think how hurt you’d be if all your friends called in sick to your interpretive dance recital.

I WILL go to your step dancing concert!

True friendship involves sacrifices, major and minor — it’s easy to call someone a friend when everything is going right, but the time when it matters is when the stuff hits the fan.
